Below you will find the update from Uncle Steve. Most of the updates will probably come from him as I am now back home and taking care of G-Man's grandbabies! Just a note to add on to here. It was brought to my attention that in my rush to get an update out to you all last night on how great my dad was doing that I didn't attach a name to the address for sending cards or anything for my dad.

This way the postal carrier will actually deliver whatever the item is and not end up returning it. It was so neat to be able to witness the acts of God this past weekend even though I wasn't there from the get go. It was exciting to see Dad come around on Monday and start getting back to his usual self. He has come a long way in just the past few days and will be making more leaps and bounds in the days to come. A quick story to leave you with before I let you get on to reading the update for the rest of the day. Earlier today, a nurse came in and said her name was Rhonda. She was one of the OR nurses from Friday night/Saturday am. My dad immediately knew who she was, b/c he had specifically prayed for her before the surgery. What she didn't know was that prior to going under, my dad could hear her calling around to find a friend to help watch her son so that she could stay for the surgery. Hearing this, when he prayed for the surgery team, he prayed specifically for Rhonda's friend taking care of her son that night so that she could stay. She mentioned how cool it was today that my dad mentioned her. Ok, so I lied, you get another story too :) His daytime nurse yesterday, Chris was about to leave for the day when she heard us talking about the prayer pager and the meaning behind it. She loved the idea and asked for the number. We asked her if she had a special number that we could recognize it was her by and she couldn't think of one, so I said, how about 417 since that's the room my dad was in. She loved it! Not sure if she has actually called it, but she took down the number (which is 561-230-0012 in case you've forgotten:)) and sounded like she would. It's amazing how God has worked through all this. It certainly sounds like from the nurses and doctors that my dad is one of their favorite patients, but then again, what's not to love about him?? :) Ok, read on for the update from the rest of today.

PS. The pictures are of how we tried to spruce up G-Man's hospital room. My girls drew him pictures and made him cards for me to deliver to him and Uncle Pat brought up my dad's favorite digital frame to let him enjoy as well.

5:00PM UPDATE from MAYO CLINIC Tuesday Oct 6, 2009
Pat Kelly informs me that Rick is doing very well this afternoon.
He has been sitting up in a chair and walking the hallway.
He has had a great day and is doing great according to the staff
there are Mayo. The Power of ...Positive Prayer Does WORK!
God Bless all of you and Keep Looking UP!
Psalm 134:2 Lift up holy hands in prayer, and praise the Lord.
I again personally want to thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for your unselfish
outpouring of love, support, and your prayers for Rick and his family during this season of their lives.
There are and will be challenges ahead of them everyday; as there are challenges for each
and every one of us. God does not give us any more on our plates than what He knows we can
handle. He wants us to look to Him, call out to Him for help and wants us to Love Him as much
as we can. I cannot begin to know how many people have prayed for Rick, how many people's
lives he has touched over the years, nor how many people who just know of him he has been
able to influence. What I do know is that he never once asked for this trial to be taken from him;
but instead has used it all for God's glory. That is what Joseph and Job did in the Old Testament,
and what Jesus did in the New Testament. We Love Rick dearly as I know you all do in your own ways.
In your everyday journey through life's bumps and bruises, do as Rick has done...Keep LOOKING UP!!
Love to All of you.....
Steve
